2019-2020 Birding Basics Course

Novice Birders!

And we do mean novice birders!

A small group, no more than 5-7 participants, is invited to attend 3 open air classes to learn how to identify birds led by Felicity Rask. These easy walkabouts will be held at Egret Marsh a small, restricted wildlife park on 4th St west of 66 Ave, in Vero beach.

Class is free, and you do not need to be a member of PIAS (of course, we hope you will join), but you are asked to attend all 3 classes.

If you are a novice signed up for the Intensive Beginner Birding Class we encourage you to attend this class – it will greatly add to your enjoyment of the fast paced exciting February class.

Class will include: instruction in the use of binoculars (loaner binocular available if you don’t have your own); when to use a bird book; how to take useful in-field bird notes and an introduction to eBird.

You will have the opportunity to watch and name Florida’s most common marsh birds including those confusing white birds!  Slow and steady with frequent repetition is the best teacher for novice birders.

Please select one of three sessions and sign up on line.
